Basstruc (or Matt),
In other Post you wrote this:
"Mr.BEAUVIALA from Aaton is very interested by small gauge formats as he tried to introduce a super9,5 pro camera in the 90's. But he will do new S8 camera only if there's a market on it so not now, & shurely never. I & maybe all of you won't pay 5000$ for that. There's no Super8 camera in pro camera location shop & for a good reason : super8 makes pro laught. Super8 is not a pro format & will never be. Trust me. Here , in france, Super16 is still a discussed format so ..."
Are you talking about the old 9,5 Path? film format with some improvemements? (Super 9,5)
Always I felt many curisity about this old french small gauge film due its great efficiency (it takes advantage of 70 % the surface of the film). As far as I know this format is rebirth in GB, especially.
About yor opinion if S8 isn?t a Pro format, yes, today It doesn?t. But, I got the feeling that one day It will be so or at least, a respectable format.
Just we waiting or claim for improved film stocks.
Carlos.

There aren't going to be any "improved formats" in Super 8 that are going to make it look more professional than it is, because all the new formats are neg stock, etc., and regardless of the benefit in shooting negative, the only stock in Super 8 that makes the guage NOT look much too grainy, is Kodachrome.
I would never choose Kodachrome as my favorite stock in Super 8, except for the grain situation.
It just is simply the finest grained stock in Super 8.
Unless they start making a neg stock that is like ISA-5, you're not going to get one that is as fine grained as Kodachrome, unfortunately.

Hi Carlos, sorry but I rarely come to that forum. For some reasons, I prefer the 8mm.filmshooting one.
Super9,5 was a very interessant thing. Mr Beauviala, with the french 9.5 club ( the biggest in the world ) get 4 facts about 9.5 :
1 ) Like you said, 9.5 is the most efficient format in surface
2 ) Like originaly, the 9.5 is made by cutting 35mm by 3. But 35/3 = 11.65, not 9.5.
3 ) By getting original mensurations of 9.5mm format, high is 6.5mm . And, by miracle : 11.65X6.5 format is ... 1.78 ( HD format ) !!! Remember that Beauviala is a defender of 1.78 like by always arguing for 35mm 3perf. .
4 ) Transforming there 16mm cameras on Super9,5mm would not have been difficult.
But the boss of 9,5mm get away with all the money so the project had never been realesed. I don't know if a prototype was done.
Why do everyone want Super8 to become a pro format ? I personnaly don't care at all. If Kodak won by persue everyone that super8 is a pro-format for full-feature by getting small grain fast neg stock, persue Aaton, Arri or anyone else to build pro 10000$ Super8 cameras & persue very facilities to buy a S8 Gate for there 1000$ an hour of service telecine; I surely be still with my old 4008 shooting kodachrome or foma that I'll devellop at home my experimentals short movies & project after diner on my Bauer 600 with friends.
We will ever do a different cinema. Remember that "Festen" , witch is a beautifull movie, what made with a DV but costed 1 millions dollars to make. You got a Video camera Carlos so why don't you personnaly make a full lenght feature ? Maybe because you don't personnaly have 1 million $.

Ho, I always forget Carlos. I'm sorry about Argentina. This story is more than a tragedy, it's a true scandal. I hope that someday, together, we could hang by there balls each of those, dress in black suit and red tie, that got money in a hand and blood in the other, if you understand what I mean.

What a fantastic site Carlos - purely from a webdesign perspective, but also an advertising one. Amazing.
Gracias, amigo.
